Conference aims:
- To bring together parenting experts, practitioners, parenting commissioners, family intervention programme managers, YOT managers, CWDC leads responsible for parenting programmes
- To celebrate the success of the Strengthening Families Programme 10-14 (UK)
- To describe recent developments and stimulate thinking about future opportunities in the parenting and family work area.
Key elements of the conference programme:
- An exploration of the importance & place of evidence based parenting programmes in supporting families
- An examination of the nature of the SFP 10-14, who is it aimed at & does it make a difference?
- Presentation of insights from US training and links with Oxford Brookes University. New book for parents (Virginia Molgaard from Iowa State University, US)
- Presentation of the SFP 10-14 work in practice (stories of successful front-line delivery within a partnership / service)
- Making a difference where it matters most: parent success story
- Identifying the essential elements of delivering successful programmes (building support and capacity – the regional dimension, quality training etc.)
- An exploration of the SFP 10-14 (UK) delivered in schools
- Presentation of the SFP 10-14 (UK) delivery in Wales and overview of current research (Cardiff University)
- Participatory workshops in the afternoon for facilitators and practitioners
